«NORMAL» BY BORIS FILANOVSKY: MUSIC AND STAGE RENDITION

Abstract

The article analyzes the composition by the contemporary composer B. Filanovsky "Normal", written in the genre of instrumental theater. This is a parody of the meeting of the editorial board of the Soviet literary magazine. The music is written on a deliberately absurd text. The main factor in the development of the "Normal" form is the timbre. The form of the work is strophic. Each verse consists of a "speech" by the editor, a "reading" of an excerpt from the article, a "discussion" by the members of the editorial board, and an instrumental "commentary". The role of the editor is played by avocalist, the role of the editorial board members is played by instrumentalists. The stage movement is analyzed on the example of performance at the Petrozavodsk State Conservatory in 2020. In the article is demonstrated applicability of the composition.
