Abstract

The article presents the issues of polysemy and synonymy in the English terminological system of the oil and gas industry, provides a classification of polysements and synonyms, reveals the specifics of their functioning within the framework of terminology, and analyzes the reasons for the emergence of synonymy in the studied terminology. The author, using examples, also examines the phenomena of polysemy and synonymy inherent in the terminology system, in particular the terminology of the oil and gas industry.
